We decided to take a guy’s trip to Concord, CA to catch All That Remains, Mudvayne and of course Megadeth. Let’s start off with the venue, I can’t say enough about how the amphitheater was laid out and not a bad seat in the entire place. Something else that was a plus is parking is always free unless you want to upgrade to premier parking. Premier parking is right in front of the entrance and can help expedite your departure if you are looking for a quick getaway.

Let’s start with the opening band, All That Remains. They were just what we needed to get the crowd started. I believe, they had a seven song setlist and it was heavy. If you got there late you missed a great start. Their fan base was also there in full force, and they made sure to get the pit started early.

Next up was Mudvayne, and they started with Dig which is one of my top five songs from Mudvayne. They came out in full costume, and I like a band that likes to get dressed up. I do not know if it was where I was standing but the sound seemed just a little off. I was standing off to the right of center of the stage one person off the rail. I am not saying that they sounded bad just off a little. Sometimes, I feel that you can be too close and throw the sounds off. I thought they did a great show, and they interacted with the crowd. Chad Gray talked about how he got interested in metal and made a connection with the crown. The excitement was really growing, and people not only had a pit going but people started to crowd surf. Chad Gray also did a little crowd surfing and ended the show with the song Happy.

Lastly, we had Megadeth and by this time the pit was in full swing, and the crowd was surfing. There was a steady stream of people in the air and running back to get in line to surf again. The crowd was rocking for Megadeth with people dancing everywhere. It was a seventeen song setlist and I recognized more songs than I didn’t. Megadeth sounded just as I remembered. The vocals were on point and the band sounded fantastic. I think that if you have the chance to see Megadeth then you should. You can clearly see why they are considered as one of the big four of American thrash metal.
